My brother & sister would love this, they were born ’75 & ’77. Although I was born just a few years later (’82) my parents were very influential in carrying these things on with us. I remember wanting the Simon game & having something like the Raggedy Ann doll. “What’s Happening?” was funny. It’s always nice to reminisce. Great post!
1978 was a year of transition. Even though I was 14 and not old enough to go to any of the discos, I still remember quite a bit about that era. Especially the music. Here are the top ten R&B songs for 1978. I
CHIC – Le Freak
DONNA SUMMER – Last Dance
EARTH, WIND & FIRE – Serpentine Fire
CHAKA KAHN – I’m Every Woman
HEATWAVE – Always and Forever
CHERYL LYNN – Got To Be Real
RICK JAMES – You and I
EVELYN “CHAMPAGNE” KING – Shame
TRAMMPS – Disco Inferno
PARLIAMENT – Flash Light
I remember sneaking out of my house to go to a party in the gym at my High School. I’m originally from New York and that was where I heard rapping (live) for the first time. By the Spring of 1979 rap made it to vinyl.
